Oncology

Oncology is still an area with large medical needs and the general aging of the population means that morbidity and mortality figures are expected to rise over the next few years. Each year, 6.5 million people are diagnosed with cancer and over 4 million people die worldwide as a result.1 This includes a large number of young people who suffer from severe forms of cancer, including leukemia, ovarian cancer, glioblastoma and breast cancer.

Five pharmaceutical development projects in the Karolinska Development portfolio focus on innovative therapies for the treatment of cancer. Each of these projects is estimated to have unique, promising treatment goals and four of the projects are in clinical development phases.
