PharmNovo develops innovative drugs for the treatment of nerve pain (neuropathic pain). Neuropathic pain is one of the most prevalent types of chronic pain and affects up to 10per cent of the population. PharmNovo’s novel drug candidate, based on a drug development project at AstraZeneca targets a different receptor than conventional opioid drugs; the delta opioid receptor, and thus reduces chronic pain without any of the unwanted effects of currently marketed opioids.
